The family and the USMC have invited the Patriot Guard Riders to attend services for LCpl Carlos Segovia Lopez and honor him for his service to our country, we would be honored to do so.

LCpl Carlos Segovia Lopez, 19 years of age, served proudly in the U. S. Marine Corps for 6 months, he was currently assigned to a student reconnaissance training company at Camp Pendleton.  He was home on leave in Los Angeles when he was shot by an unknown assailant and later succumbed to his injuries.

Carlos was a very giving person who had a dream of becoming a Marine and serving his country.  His final act of giving was donating his organs so that others can live.  The PGR was there on 22 SEP 16 at the hospital to line the hallways along with his brother Marines when he was taken off life support and wheeled to the operating room for his final gift to others.  This young Marine exemplified the true meaning of the word "Hero" in more ways than one.

In his home town Carlos led a youth group called Teen Project, which worked with youth to finish school. He also worked with LA Cloud 9 to provide services to the homeless and animals in his community.

Thus far, the USMC has held a memorial at Camp Pendleton in his honor, and the community has held a vigil at the location where he was shot.
