The family of LTC, Phillip Henry (US Army-retired), has invited the Patriot Guard Riders, through our friends at C. L. Lynch Mortuary, to attend the Final Military Honors of their Hero. It will be our privilege to fulfill their request.

Phillip served in the United Staes Army, following his 8 years of service in the National Guard. At the time of his retirement from active duty he held the rank of Lt. Colonel (O-5) Our hero’s combined military service exceeded 35 years.  While serving he continued his education, earning a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s degree in education. His active-duty service included deployment to Afghanistan.

Phillip was born in Kingston, Jamaica, West Indies, the first son of Bishop Wilton Henry and Reverend Joyce Henry. They, along with his two siblings emigrated to America. He attended schools in the LASD.  He was an accomplished musician and originally thought he was destined to be a music teacher. At Cal State University, Northridge, he started his path to his leadership and education in the military, religious and education environments. He was a beloved elementary school teacher, an avid reader and was a founding member and Executive Pastor of the Total Worship Center. It was here, that he was respected as a children’s pastor, lead Elder and Bible Study Instructor. This commitment was in concert with his brother-in-law, Robert Black and both their wives. He also found additional sacred space in the libraries of our nation. He held library cards from all the states that he visited and was most proud of his Library of Congress card.

Our hero is survived by his wife of 34 years, Rose Marie (Black), their two children, Montcrey Dominique Henry and Miikella Daniele Brown, and their respective spouses. In addition, our hero is missed by his mother, Reverend Joyce Henry along with the members of his extended family and congregation.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. All PGR members are welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there, by the Ride Captain (RC). Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.

Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our Heroes. No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Observe the 15 MPH speed limit. Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
