The family of Ralph Leon Adkins, USMC has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to attend the military honors of their loved one as he makes his final journey, it will be our honor to do so.
Ralph was born 27 July 1953 in Henry County, Virginia, and peacefully passed away at his home here in SoCal surrounded by his loved ones.
Ralph graduated from Fieldale High School in Collinsville, Virginia, and planned to further his education at Palomar Community College, when his life’s calling led him to serve his country with distinction as a United States Marine enlisting in 1972, and retiring in 1993 as a Master Sergeant, serving in numerous locations across the globe with multiple assignments from DC, Camp Lejeune, Operation Desert Shield, and Desert Storm in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, to 3 Tours in Japan.
His awards include two Expert Rifle Badges, Pistol Sharpshooter Badge, three Meritorious Unit Commendations, Navy Achievement Medal, three Meritorious Masts, three Good Conduct Medals (including one Silver Star, and one Gold Star), Sea Service Deployment Ribbon with two Stars, Southwest Asia Service Medal with two Stars, Southwest Asia Service Medal with two Stars, an Overseas Ribbon, and the Kuwait Liberation Medal.
After his Retirement, the passion for his family, and faith was immeasurable. He also had a passion for riding his Harley Davidson, cruising in his corvette, a true enthusiast of classic cars, attending car shows, NASCAR, automotive TV programs, along with working on them. He also loved hunting, fishing, and off-roading adventures.
Ralph is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Robin Adkins, daughter Jessica Adkins Cook, son Eric Adkins, grandchildren Alyson, Evan, Liam, and Florabelle, step-granddaughters Katie Cook, Kiarra Cook, and four great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his mother Mattie Adkins, and brother Victor Adkins.

You do not have to be a veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. All PGR members are welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the Ride Captain (RC). Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.
Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our heroes. No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Observe the 15 MPH speed limit. Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
