The Baldwin Park Police Department and the family of Officer Samuel Riveros have invited the Patriot Guard Riders to attend his memorial service. It is an honor to accept their invitation.
The community suffered a profound loss when Officer Riveros was responding to reports of gunfire and assisting other officers on the scene when he was shot and killed in the line of duty.
Officer Riveros served with the Baldwin Park Police Department for nine years. He survived by his parents, siblings, niece, and nephews.
Today, we mourn a courageous officer, a respected colleague, and a beloved friend. Officer Samuel Riveros began his service with us as a Public Safety Trainee on April 3, 2016, and was sworn in as a Police Officer on September 11, 2016. His commitment to excellence led to his selection for the SWAT Team on July 1, 2019, where he served with honor for over five years. Most recently, he was appointed as a Field Training Officer on July 21, 2024, a testament to his leadership and mentorship.
A proud UC Irvine graduate, Officer Samuel Riveros was known not only for his tactical skills and professionalism, but for his love of snowboarding and his unwavering loyalty to the Los Angeles Dodgers. His legacy will live on through the lives he touched and the example he set.
We extend our deepest condolences to the Riveros family, his loved ones, and all who had the honor of serving alongside him.
