The family of Major Gregory Donald Maskew, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor this hero for his service to his country.  It will be our privilege to do so.

Major Maskew enlisted in the USMC in 1966 where he served in Morocco and 2 tours in Vietnam. While in Vietnam he was wounded twice and received 2 Purple Hearts as well as the Vietnam Service Medal.  Upon his departure from the Marines, he became a Reservist with the California National Guard while also serving as a Santa Ana Police Officer.

Major Maskew continued his education and earned his college degree then was commissioned as an Army Lieutenant through the California Military Academy.  He returned to active duty and was assigned to 3rd Squadron, 8th Cavalry in Mannheim, Germany.  He retired from the service after 28 years in 1995 at the rank of Major.

After his retirement, he enjoyed target marksmanship, fox hunting (member of Oak Ridge Fox Hunt Club) and was a Life Member of the US Cavalry Association.  He also worked as a DOD Police Officer at Norco, Long Beach Shipyard and Camp Parks in Dublin, CA.

Major Maskew is survived by his wife, Karen Maskew (LTC., US Army, Retired), his daughter Aeryn, two sisters, Susan and Tina and sister in law and brother in law.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. Everyone is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain).  Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car).  Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can.  Please ride/drive safely.
