The family of John Licon Bustamantez, age 66, of Victorville, CA has requested the Patriot Guard Riders in honoring their beloved father and grandfather on Friday, 6 May 2016, 1300 hrs at the Victor Valley Memorial Park in Victorville. We will be honored to so.

Our Hero was born 21 May 1949 and entered eternity on 24 April 2016 after a battle with diabetes and organ failure, possibly spurred on by Agent Orange.

John L. Bustamantez served with the 101st Airborne, US Army, from May 1969 to March 1972 with the rank of Pvt and was awarded the CIB badge. He was always proud to have been part of the famed "101st".

Mr.Bustamantez was a native of San Francisco but was raised in Orange County, Calif. He was athletic and an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed long walks, playing handball/racquetball and fishing.

He was a self employed landscaper but a motorcycle crash many years ago, resulted in full disability and  stopped many of his outdoor activities.

Our hero really enjoyed dinners with his family. He was a fan of western movies, and he always listened to music from the Vietnam era.

He was a life long patriot and used to take his grandson(s) to the cemetery on Memorial Days, teaching them patriotism and to not allow the American flag to touch the ground.

He was also a big fan of the Patriot Guard and at funerals with PGR presence would shake the hands of the members following the service. It was his dying wish that the PGR be asked to be part of his funeral according to his daughter Nicole.

Survivors include his daughter Nicole Bustamantez and son Gabe Bustamantez. Grandchildren include Elijah Landazuri, Andrew and Noah Bustamantez.

RIP hero.
