The family of Alfred Avila Perez, age 78, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to honor him for his military service, we are privileged  to be invited and honored to do so.

Alfred Avila Perez enlisted in the U.S.Army in 1960 and served until 1970. During his career, Alfred achieved the rank of E-5/Sgt. at the time of his honorable discharge. Alfred served three combat tours during the Vietnam War. Alfred received his training at Fort Ord, Monterey, CA. He was stationed at Fort Wacucaa, Az. Alfred succumbed to complications of Agent Orange.

Alfred was the oldest of 16 children.  Alfred was known to the family as "The Leader of the Pack".  After Alfred was discharged he went to work for the United States Postal Service and retired from that department.

Alfred is survived by his wife Monica,  Brothers: Daniel, Joe Jr., Fernando, Ed, and Henry: Sisters: Virginia, Alice, Yolanda, and Christina. Alfred also has 6 children: Gilbert, Victoria, Cindy, Michael, Tina,and Marcus. Alfred also has 15 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Alfred's services will be held at a church in Pico Rivera Ca with an accompaniment to Rose Hills Cemetery. There will be paid Escorts, however if you can be part of the missing man formation please come and attend.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and his family from the church to his final resting place. Please see the time table if you would like to participate. For those who would rather go directly to the cemetery, we will meet you there.

This mission is considered a Combat Related Death because of Agent Orange and will have tags provided.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. Everyone is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain).  Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car).  Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can.  Please ride/drive safely.
