The family of Sgt Carlos M. Mota, age 26, and the U.S. Marine Corps have invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be there to accompany this Hero from the funeral home to the airport for his departure to return home to his family. We are honored to do so.
Sgt Mota enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 2012 and had served multiple combat deployments in the Global War on Terror. He was most recently stationed at Marine Corps Air Station at Miramar where he was an F/A-18 aircraft electrical systems technician assigned to VMFA 323, 3rd Marine Air Wing. His medals include the National Defense Service Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Korean Defense Medal, and the Armed Forces Service Medal.
Sgt Mota was tragically killed on his motorcycle near the base on February 22, 2020. This was said by his Commanding Officer “We join the Mota family and the Marines and Sailors of VMFA-323 in mourning the loss of Sgt. Mota. We wish them comfort as they navigate the difficult days ahead and are here to support them in any way we can,”
Sgt Mota will be returning home to his family in the State of Georgia, this mission will be to accompany him and his family to the airport for that journey.
NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this American Hero. For those interested, and all are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and his family from the mortuary to the airport. Please see the time table if you would like to participate. For those who would rather go directly to the airport, we will meet you there.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. Everyone is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain). Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.
