The family of Walter Joseph Baaden Jr. has requested the Patriot Guard Riders to accompany their hero patriarch to his final resting place. We are honored to have been selected to join with the family in this journey and participating in his final Military Honors and committal ceremony.

Walter was born and raised in the Bronx, New York and graduated from Iona  College. He enlisted in the US Army  in December of 1951, went to infantry school and served as an enlisted soldier. He was discharged from the regular Army with an “early out” as the Korean War troop strength was reduced in March, 1953. Walter transferred to the US Army Reserves and was sent to OCS and subsequently commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant. He was assigned to Company A, 387th Military Police Battalion, Van Nuys, CA.  At that station he also served as Fire Marshall and Investigating Officer attaining the rank of 1st Lieutenant.

Walter received a Masters degree in Industrial Relations from American University. He served with the FBI for five years, notably involved with the Frank Sinatra Jr. kidnapping case. Following his time at the FBI he went to the private sector in aerospace industry security at TRW, Hughes and Raytheon.

Our hero is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Ann and their seven children Jan, Terese, Jean, Tom, Steve, Mike and Kathy. Additionally, Walter is survived by his brother, William and 10 Grandchildren. He was preceded by siblings Richard, Cecelia and George.

Throughout the years raising his children Walter coached their soccer teams and was a Father figure to many of their friends, classmates and teammates. His other sports love was for Norte Dame college football.

We are humbled and proud to join this deserving hero's family on this special day.

Note: This mission is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For many of us this will be our first event at the new LANC Columbarium Expansion so be prepared to be a little disoriented. We are arriving at the family's neighborhood at the peak commuting and school starting times so traffic will be at its worst. Please watch out for children and crossing guards. For those who wish to pass on the accompanying ride please feel free to join us at LANC inside the main LANC gate NLT 10:15.
