Veterans Without Families - Riverside - 25 October 0800hrs
« on: October 23, 2023, 10:38:13 PM »

On Wednesday, 25 October 2023, the following four heroes are coming from the Los Angeles County Coroner this week:

Gilbert  G.  Jones              70     USA

Bertrand  L.  Thompson     68     USAF

Nelson  E.  Washington Jr.  73     USN

Scott  A.  Morgan              69     USMC

There will be no Veterans coming from the San Bernardino County Coroner this week.

The PGR will recognize veterans brought to Riverside National Cemetery for direct burial without final honors within the past week.

The PGR will be these Veterans' families and stand by while the Patriot Guard Riders render the military honors at Riverside National Cemetery.

May the souls of these Veterans rest in peace beneath the green carpet of grass in a Nation they helped to keep free.

They are not alone; we are their family.

“If we cannot do him honor while he's here to hear the praise,
Then at least let's give him homage at the ending of his days,
Perhaps just a simple headline in a paper that would say,
Our Country is in mourning, for a soldier died today.”

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring these Military Veterans.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. All PGR members are welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to participate in your car. If this is your first mission, go to the initial staging area, and you will be briefed by the R/C (Ride Captain). Dress for motorcycle riding or wear casual attire while driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Would you please ride/drive safely?

Remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent with honor and respect for our Heroes—no talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Observe the 15 MPH speed limit. Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we honor.
