Anthony J. Lopez, 32, USN, Grand Terrace/RNC - 20 Mar
« on: March 10, 2025, 11:25:21 PM »
The family of Anthony Joseph Lopez, 32, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to attend the military honors of their loved one as he makes his final journey.  We are honored to fulfill their request.

Anthony served in the United States Navy from 11/19/2013 to 05/22/2017 and was honorably discharged as a Logistics Specialist 3 (LS3).  He served on the USS Gary on the Peninsula.  He earned the long-honored distinction of a Shellback (Son of Neptune) from a slimy Pollywog after crossing the equator.  This ritual dates back 400 years in Western seafaring to test sailors for their seaworthiness.

After his time in the Navy, Anthony settled in to work as a rigger and mechanic for motorcycles, watercraft, and auto.  He enjoyed cooking, building engines, and spending time with family and friends.  Unfortunately, Anthony was on his way to help a friend out when he was involved in a fatal automobile accident.

Anthony is survived by his parents, Raul and Wyonah, wife, Amanda, and son, Revy.  He also leaves behind two sisters and two brothers.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this military veteran.  For those interested, and all PGR members are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and his family from the family residence to RNC, approximately 12 miles.  Please see the timetable if you would like to participate.  For those who would rather go directly to the cemetery, we will meet you there.

You do not have to be a veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission.  All PGR members are welcome.  We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car.  If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the Ride Captain (RC).  Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car).  Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can.  Please ride/drive safely.

Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our heroes.  No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service.  Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum.  Observe the 15 MPH speed limit.  Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground.  Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
