The family of Robert Whitehead has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to participate in their Hero’s final journey. We are honored to fulfill this request.
Our Hero began his military career in 1985 with the US Navy Reserves, switched to the US Air Force Reserves and was honorably discharged in 2007 at the rank of MSgt/E-7. Robert served as a military photographer for both branches. He traveled to Japan and Saudi Arabia to set up photo labs and to Sydney Australia as the official DOD photographer for the Military Olympic Athletes. While serving, he was awarded the National Defense Service Ribbon, Air Force Reserve Meritorious Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal and Military Photographer of the Year for his work at the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
As a civilian, Robert continued his work as a photographer working for The Press Enterprise, San Bernardino Sun, CSU San Bernardino and Palomar Community College.
Our Hero leaves behind his loving bride, Kris, son Mason and siblings Diane, Debbie, Barbara and Boyd.
