The family of Janice Stauffer has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor their hero for her service to her community.   It will be our privilege to do so.

Janice C. Stauffer, 82 yrs. Old ( January 1, 1938/Feb. 25, 2020 ) was a San Diego County Sheriff’s Dept, deputy sheriff Lieutenant.
Jan served in the sheriff’s department from 1968 to 1991.

Jan was one of the ORIGINAL FEMALE DEPUTY SHERIFFS. Worked women’s jail, Opened original Los Colinas Women's Detention Facility, Academy Instructor/firearms training, Hostage negotiator, Communication center Commander, Assistant Commander Poway Station, Commander of Search and Rescue Unit/Reserve Unit, retiring as Lieutenant. She received many commendations and awards too numerous to mention.

She was also a 52 yr. member of the San Diego Sweet Adeline's Chorus,  was a choreographer and dancer and instrumental in that organization winning 2 worldwide competitions. She enjoyed  RVing  with family and friends, Joe & Jan were also members of the Elks lodge for many years. They travelled extensively throughout the US and several other countries. Her Life would be a hard act to follow. 

She was married to Deputy Sheriff Joe L. Stauffer for 48 plus years and is also survived by daughters Julie Allen, Cyndi San Filippo and 2 grandchildren.

The family has asked us to escort the Hero to the cemetery from Legacy mortuary. We will do full honors for Jan. We will fold & present the flag after the playing of taps.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this First Responder. For those interested, and all are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and her family from the mortuary to her final resting place. Please see the time table if you would like to participate. For those who would rather go directly to the cemetery, we will meet you there.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. Everyone is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain).  Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car).  Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can.  Please ride/drive safely.
