St. Martins in the Field School has asked us to help them honor all veterans and retired Marine Gunnery Sergeant Ernie Napper during their annual Memorial Chapel, and we are proud to do so.

Marine Gunnery Sergeant Ernie Napper will speak to the students about America, the Flag and our veterans.  Ernie served 22 years in the Marines including service in Vietnam and the First Gulf War.

He returned from Saudi Arabia to become a cast member at Disneyland, serving 20 years so far as a security guard.  Along with keeping the park safe for the last 20 years he has led the nightly flag retreat ceremony that takes place at sundown each night at the Main Street flagpole.  It is a time of patriotic songs and a time for current and retired  military men and women to be honored for their service to America.  Ernie has continued this ceremony for 20 years and has touched many lives.  He is a true American hero who has served America on foreign soil and at the flagpole at Disneyland he honors our veterans of World War II, Korea, Vietnam and the Gulf Wars.  He takes great pride in the opportunities he was to personally thank the remaining veterans of World War II, who gave so much for those of us alive today.

The Memorial Chapel service begins at 8:30 a.m. and will be followed by a special Flag Retreat Ceremony that will take place at the school flagpole which will include participation by veterans from World War II, Korea, Vietnam, The Gulf Wars to the present.  Special guests, members of "Wings over Wendys", a local group of WWII and Vietnam veterans that served in the Army Air Corps and Navy.
