The family of Raymond Donald Bailey has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor their hero for his service to his country.   It will be our privilege to do so.

Raymond joined the Unites States Marines in July of 1967 and was honorably discharged in July of 1970 after completing two tours to Vietnam. During his service Raymond obtained the rank of E3, Lance Corporal, and earned the Vietnam Service medal, the Vietnam Gallantry Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. Raymond was exposed to Agent Orange during his service and as a result developed lung cancer. He was a very proud Marine and although he was disheartened by the treatment received when coming home, he said he would go back to defend our country in a heartbeat.

Raymond had two daughters and a son, Dawn, Shannon, and Shane. Raymond also leaves behind two sisters Cheryl and Caroline. He grew up in Michigan but moved to San Diego when his kids were small. He loved fishing and did most of his fishing in Michigan. He also liked going to Viejas casino with his daughter Shannon. Raymond’s best friend was his caregiver for the past handful of years. He is going to be dearly missed by all that knew him.

We encourage those who do not ride to participate in your car. If this is your first mission, go to the initial staging area, where you will be briefed by the R/C (Ride Captain). Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.

Remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent with honor and respect for our Heroes—no talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep the radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we honor.
