The family of Michael Andrew Burgert, 75, has invited the PGR to participate in honoring his life and service to his country. It will be a privilege to do so.

Michael Andrew Burgert served in the U.S. Navy from October 1964 to October 1968.  Michael was honorably discharged as a Machinist Mate Class 2 (MM2) and proudly served his Nation during the Vietnam War.

After Michael served his Country, he had his wife Sharon and had 5 children to take care of and decided to go into the grocery store business where he became a meat manager. He worked at several different grocery stores throughout the years and eventually retired after 35 years.  When Michael lost his wife he decided to move back to Illinois, his hometown where his brother Pete and sister Chris lived.  He lived a full life in Illinois for almost 17 years before he passed.  He loved the retirement life, loved fishing and his Chicago Cubs.

Michael is survived by his children Laura, Mike, Michele and Ken.  He will also be missed by his brother Pete and his sister Chris.  He will be forever loved by his 5 grandchildren Lance, Nicholas, Ashley, Jonathon and Kimberly. Michael is now reunited with his wife Sharon and his Son Charles.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. Everyone is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain).  Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car).  Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can.  Please ride/drive safely.

Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our Heroes. No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Observe the 15 MPH speed limit. Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
