The family of Monty B. Ison have invited the Patriot Guard Riders to attend the funeral services of their Hero, we would be honored to do so.

Monty Ison joined the U.S. Army in 1958 at the age of 16 by lying about his age, he was 16 years old.  He served active duty in the Army until the 60s, and saw time in Korean War, then transferred to the SeaBees and eventually to the National Guard where he served until 1987.  He attained the rank of Staff Sergeant.

Monty was a member of the VFW, and worked for Pac Bell/ATT for 34 years, he was a union steward, and loved to bowl, and enjoyed all sports.

Monty is survived by his wife of 35 years, Charlotte, his son John, and was preceded in death by his son Chris.  He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and great nephews with 2 more on the way.

There will be a private family viewing at the mortuary from 1100 to 1200, we will meet at the mortuary and we will be asked to provide pall bearers from our ranks for the Hero to the coach and again from the coach to the shelter.  We would like to ask the members to come out if possible so that we have sufficient numbers to act as pall bearers and form a flag line.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and his family from the mortuary to his final resting place. Please see the time table if you would like to participate. For those who would rather go directly to the cemetery, we will meet you there.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. Everyone is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain).  Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car).  Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can.  Please ride/drive safely.

Please remember to post your condolences for the family at this link:
