The Family of LTC Donald Peter Moriarty II, USA (RET) has requested the Patriot Guard to pay Honors to this distinguished and highly decorated Officer of the United States Army. It will be our Honor to do so.

Donald was born on the 26th of Jan 1935 , and passed on the 4th of Feb 2018 at the age of 83 years old.
During his time here on earth he accomplished what most men can only dream of.
Donald after graduating High school joined the United States Army on the 19th of Nov. 1957 and served until the 30th of Nov. 1980.

During his illustrious career he attained the rank of Lieutenant Colonel serving in many capacities, and in many Countries.

Donalds Military history consisted of serving

1957-1959:  Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indianapolis, IN (Finance Corps)
1960-1962:  Fort Bliss, TX, then Loring AFB, Limestone, ME (Strategic Air Command)
1962-1965:  Munich/Ingolstadt, Germany (Nike Battery); Kaiserslautern, Germany (32nd AADCOM)
1965-1966:  Fort Sill, OK (Air Defense Artillery school)
1966-1967:  Vietnam (Division Artillery Staff, 1st Cavalry Division)
1967-1969:  Stewart AFB, Newburgh, NY (Eastern NORAD Region)
1970-1971:  Vietnam (Operations Officer, Adviser School, training Mobile Advisor Teams throughout South Vietnam)
1971-1973:  West Palm Beach, FL (Regular Army Adviser to the 1st Battalion, 265th Air Defense Artillery, Florida National Guard
1973-1976:  Kaiserslautern and Wiesbaden, Germany (32nd AADCOM)
1976-1980:  Fort Bliss, TX (Head of Command Control & Integration Department of Combat Developments Directorate)

Donalds Awards consisted of the Legion of Merit; Meritorious Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster; Bronze Star
Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster; Air Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters; Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Palm;
Joint Staff Commendation Medal; Army Commendation Medal; Vietnamese Staff Service Medal, First Class.
After Donalds time in the service was complete with an Honorable Discharge he went to work for Hughes Aircraft Company, 1980-1995:.Donald was promoted to  Staff Engineer, specialist in Command Control and Systems Integration, Systems Engineer, Department Manager for Integrated Systems, and Engineering Program Manager.
When Donald had some spare time which wasn't much he became interested in Genealogy:  where he published several articles on family history.  He also helped Author:  A Fine Body of Men:  The Orleans Light Horse, Louisiana Cavalry (New Orleans:  The Historic New Orleans Collection, 2014)

Donald also became a member of the Rapides Symphony Orchestra, Alexandria, LA:  Member (1999-2007),
President Republican Party (2005-2007)
Member, Republican State Central Committee, Louisiana (2004-2009); delegate, Republican National Convention, Minneapolis, MN, Rotary Club of Villa Park, California (2009-2018)

Donald definitely left his mark on this world as a very caring and hard worker to make this place a better place to live.
On 4th of Feb 2018 this world became a little darker, but Heaven oh so much brighter..

Donald is survived by his Wife:Diana M. Moriarty,  Children: Erin P. Moriarty; Donald P. Moriarty III;
Step-children:  Wendy S. Rogers ;Joanna S. Fay & 4 grandchildren
