Joseph Gallagher, 66, Master Chief Petty Officer USN, (Ret), Our Mother of Confidence/Miramar – 03 April 2024

The family of Joseph Gallagher has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor their hero for his service. It will be our privilege to do so.

Joseph served in the United States Navy from 1975-1997. Campaigns included the Cold War, Gulf War, and Afghanistan. Upon completion of his 22 years of honorable service he obtained the rank of Master Chief Petty Officer. He earned Joint Service Commendation Medal W/Oak Leaf Cluster, Navy Commendation Medal (1), United Nations Services Medal, Joint Meritorious Unit Commendation (1), Meritorious Unit Commendation W/ 4 Bronze Stars, Navy Expeditionary Medal W/ 1 Bronze Star, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, National Defense Service Medal W/ 1 Bronze Star. Over Seas Service Ribbon, Navy “E” Ribbon. Navy Sea Service Deployment Ribbon Good Conduct (5) and Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist Insignia.

After his service, Joseph continued is lifelong mission of honoring his country working for various defense contractors. Joseph pursued higher education and obtained his Bachelor of Science in Business Management and furthered his achievements by obtaining his Master of Arts in Human Resources. During his leisure time Joseph served as Vice Commander and Post Commander for the Gig Harbor American Legion. Joseph is remembered by his magnetic personality, infectious sense of humor and indomitable spirit.

Joseph is survived by Linda Erwin-Gallagher, his loving children Margaret Brandford and Patrick Gallagher, Adoring grandchildren, Regan Bradford and Jack Bradford, and his siblings, Thomas Gallagher, Mary Geen and Richard Gallagher.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all PGR Members are welcome. We will be accompanying the hero and his family from the chapel to his final resting place (approx. 5 miles). Please see the timetable if you would like to participate. For those who would rather go directly to the cemetery, we will meet you there.

1245 – Est time of arrival at cemetery.

1315 – Flag Line for full military honors.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain). Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.

Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our Heroes. No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Observe the 15 MPH speed limit. Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
