It is not unusual for the PGR to respond to Vietnam veterans funerals. It will be VERY unusual, however, for the PGR to honor a hometown hero who was killed in action in Vietnam.
The class of 1968, Colton High YellowJackets, has requested the PGR to help honor one of their alumni, Robert Lincoln Crites, USMC, who was killed when the helicopter he was occupying was shot down by enemy action. A banner bearing the image of the hero, will be unveiled in front of the high school which he attended on Wednesday, 19 November 2014. The banner was purchased by his fellow classmates. Tentatively the members of CoHi’s Jr. ROTC team will be on hand and perhaps members of the band. Surviving members of the hero’s family resides in Colorado where the hero is buried. Thus far they will not be able to attend but lend their full support to the planned event.
The community of Colton, which is my hometown, has an ongoing relationship with active and veteran serviceman in the displaying of banners on city street light poles.
The PGR will assemble at Fleming Park in Colton. Following a short briefing we will ride to the street bearing the hero's name. This same neighborhood bears the names of 6 other Vietnam KIAs.
The city of Colton saw 13 of its sons sacrificed in Vietnam. Organizers of the event and local riders from the class of '68 are also planning to join the ride. We will then ride to the high school in the area of Valley Blvd. and Rancho for the 1100 ceremony.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. Everyone is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain). Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.
