The family of Robert “Bob” Rhea Callen has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor their hero for his service to his country. It will be our privilege to do so.

Robert Callen joined the Air Force in 1964 and proudly served for 6 years when he was honorably discharged in 1970 at the rank of Sgt.

Robert was born on October 30, 1945, in Twin Falls, Idaho.  On January 1, 2025, Bob passed away at home beside his wife and best friend, Michele. Well known for his warm smile, easy laugh, and charm, Bob was most proud of his service in the Air Force during the Vietnam War where he survived a bombing and other war-time threats.

Bob was often seen volunteering at many organizations throughout his life, but most importantly enjoyed time with family and friends. Bob shared memories with loved ones during his time serving his community. He acted as Captain of the San Diego Humane Society’s Animal Rescue Reserve and as Lieutenant Governor and President of local Kiwanis Chapters. He also belonged to the Alpine Outlaws, various Mounted Patrols, and was a leader of the Rail Ambassador for the Laguna Mountain Volunteer Association. Bob developed a golf league (Callen Invitational Golf Tournament) which was in existence for over 50 years, creating lifelong friendships of over 100 golfers.

Through it all, Bob never lost his passion for the desert, where family get-togethers were held. Bob leaves a legacy of service, character, integrity, and undying love to his beloved three children and their partners, Tennille and John, Chris and Dawn, and his youngest daughter, Cari. He loved watching his grandsons, Johnny and Zachary play baseball. He is survived by his siblings and their spouses; Jimmy and Terry Callen, Marianne and Danny Merriman and Keith and Becky Callen, his nephews/niece and their spouses, his stepchildren Christine and Michael, and his horse Nevada. May we celebrate a man that gave so much to his family and community, all the way to the end.
