The widow of SSG Gordon M. Hill, 70, USA (Ret), Persian Gulf War, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor her late husband Friday, 14 Sept 18, at  Meads Mortuary in Barstow. It will be an honor to do so.

SSG Hill was inducted into the USA twice. His records did not reveal the date he was first inducted but he apparently was released 10 months later for unknown reasons. Nor was the widow able to determine which unit he was assigned to. She did say he was not deployed to Vietnam. His second entry date was in 1982 and retiring in 2000. He deployed to the Persian Gulf War in 1989-90 while having permanent status in Germany.

His medals include The Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation, Achievement Medal, Good Conductm National Defense Service, Southwest Asian Service Medal with 3 bronze stars, Non Comm Visioned Officer Service, Non Com Professional Service , Liberation Medal Saudi Arabia,  Expert Marksmanship, Pistol Bar, and Unit Conduct.

He retired  from the Army at Ft Irwin, CA where he was assigned to th 11th AR HHC, Heavy BDE Armor.

Following his military career he was employed at the Barstow Marine Corps Logistics Base, Barstow as a GS-09 Management Analyst. He attended Robert Morris College in Pennsylvania receiving an AA degree and a BA from Park University Ext in Ft. Irwin.

Gordon and his wife Kelsa resided in Barstow where he enjoyed watching Pro football on tv. The New England Patriots were his favorite team and he was quoted to say that QB Tom Brady “can never do no wrong”. The couple also enjoyed reading, watching movies, and remodeling their home.

Our hero was preceded in death by his parents Jimmy and Emma Hill and brother Jimmy Hill, Jr.  Survivors include his wife Kelsa, his son Brian Josey, his twin sister Gertrude Burrell, a brother Larry Hill, nephews, nieces and cousins.

1100: Funeral service for our hero to be held inside the chapel we will provide Flag Lines as directed

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. Everyone is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain).  Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car).  Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can.  Please ride/drive safely.
