The family of Army Veteran Lucio Blanco has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to honor their hero for his service and sacrifice to his country. It will be our privilege to do so.

Lucio served honorably from November 1944 to July 1946. He served in the hard fought Battle of the Bulge that was a turning point near the end of WWII, and participated in the liberation of concentration camps in the spring of 1945.   He earned medals, including the American Campaign Medal, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, WWII Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal. His rank at discharge was Private First Class.

In civilian life Lucio was employed by the La Puente School District for 23 years, culminating in being in charge of all of the district’s athletic fields.  He enjoyed camping a Pismo Beach, deep sea fishing and landscaping.

Lucio was pre-deceased by his wife Mary and daughter Hope; and survived by daughters Kathleen, Jennie and Phyllis, nine grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
