The Patriot Guard Riders have again this year been asked to participate in honoring all our Military Veterans and one World War II Veteran in particular at this year’s Armed Forces Appreciation Night at Irwindale Speedway.
We will escort 90-year-old Carl Harstine, a member of the United States Marine Corps, an expert marksman and rifleman, on a parade lap around the track. Mr. Harstine will be the Grand Marshal for this year’s event and will be riding in a pre-war Lincoln convertible.
Prior to this, we will park in the Fan Zone where attendees can meet us and learn what we do and why we do it.
As in previous years, we will be given free admission to the event as a token of Irwindale’s respect for our mission and, for the veterans among us, our service and sacrifices to our great nation.
Please plan to arrive at Irwindale Speedway NLT 1500hrs as we will be KSU to the Fan Zone at 1530. The gates will open at 1600hrs, at which time we anticipate that no additional bikes will be allowed to enter the Fan Zone due to insurance concerns.
Remember that this is a family event and that we will be representing the Patriot Guard, so please check your vests to ensure there are no patches containing vulgar wording visible. There will be black Gaffers Tape at the event to provide temporary covering if needed.
