The family of Walter Jacob Hopp has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to attend his funeral service and honor him, it will be our privilege to do so.

Walter J. Hopp enlisted twice in the US Navy, the first time was in October 1942.  He served as a Naval Aviation Machinist during WWII and was honorably discharged in February, 1946.  When war broke out in Korea he felt the need and the call to serve again and reenlisted in October, 1950 and served until he was again honorably discharged in July, 1954.

In his civilian life he worked as an automotive service writer, and worked on computers.  He enjoyed hobbies with his Ham Radio, and dune buggies in the Anza Borrego desert.  He loved traveling in the RV with his wife and family.

Walter's wife passed before him, he is survived by his daughters Jennie (Dave) Meissenburg, and Cora (Jim) Fields, 2 grandsons and 2 great grandchildren.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. Everyone is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain).  Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car).  Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can.  Please ride/drive safely.
