The family of Richard Hirst has invited the Patriot Guard Riders (PGR) to attend the Military Honors of their loved one as he makes his final journey. It will be our honor to do so.

Richard was born on 9 February 1939 and entered into Eternal Rest on 27 January 2020.

Richard joined the US Army and served from 6 February 1959 to 19 February 1962. He was trained as a Meteorologist, and spent 2 1/2 years in Germany with the 2nd Battalion 8th Field Artillery Regiment. Richard earned the Good Conduct Medal, and was Honorably discharged as a Specialist 5th Class.

After his military service, Richard owned a racetrack in Placerville. He was a huge car racing enthusiast.  He also owned a local bar in Placerville called the
Round Tent Cafe, where he displayed 313 guns over the bar, many of them military.  Richard then moved to Southern California, where he managed a nudist resort.

Richard is survived by his wife Debi, daughters Shelli, Kim, son Rick, and 5 grandchildren.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran.  For those interested, and all are welcome, please see the time table if you would like to participate.

Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.

Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our Heroes. No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Observe the 15 MPH speed limit. Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
