The United States Navy and the family of PO1 Robert A. Olson have asked the Patriot Guard to be with them as they say their final farewell to their hero.  We are honored to attend.

Robert started his Naval Service in Great Lakes, IL on March 1st 2012, where he attended Boot Camp and follow on “A” and “C” schools to become a Fire Controlman (AEGIS) before going to Dahlgren, VA for his final training before arriving at his first Command, in November 2013, the USS FITZGERALD (DDG 62) in Yokosuka, Japan.

After his three year tour he went back to Dahlgren for some advanced training before arriving at the USS NORMANDY (CG 60) in Norfolk, VA in September 2017. In 2019, he transferred to his current command the USS PRINCETON (CG 59) in San Diego, CA where he achieved the rank of First Class Petty Officer.

During his career he completed multiple deployments around the world. Some of his awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Good Conduct, Meritorious Unit Commendation’s, and Two Navy Battle Efficiency Awards. He additionally qualified as an Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist and an Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist.

Robert is survived by his spouse Jussa Watanabe Olson; daughter Sabrena Lee Olson Olson; mother Roxanne Lee Olson Olson; step sister Larissa Hamilton; aunts & uncles Marilyn Olson-Mears (David Mears), cousin Abraham Mears and his cousin August Mears.

You do not have to be a veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission.  All PGR members are welcome.  We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car.  If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the Ride Captain (RC).  Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car).  Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can.  Please ride/drive safely.

Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our Heroes.  No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service.  Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum.
