The family of Donald Francis Folk has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor this hero for his service to his country.  It will be our privilege to do so.

Donald Folk, 78, proudly served his country in the United States Army from February 1959 through March 1966.  For his service, Donald was awarded the Rifle Marksman medal.  At the time of his honorable discharge he had attained the rank of Private E-2.

After his discharge from the Army, Donald earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from “Ole Miss” University of Mississippi, then later became a football coach.  He worked in sales most of his life which included over 10 years working as a civilian at the Camp Pendleton Marine Corps Base Area 51 Service Station.  Donald loved boating and sport fishing, and over the years owned several sailboats in Lake Michigan and deep sea fishing boats in Oceanside Harbor.  For a period of time, he was also a Harley Motorcycle rider.

Donald is survived by his brother Alan Folk, sons Charles and Michael Folk, daughters Michelle Fredlund and Christina Butler and Christina’s husband PGR Member Danen Butler, 8 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild.

The family has requested the Patriot Guard Riders accompany this hero on his last ride along his beloved Pacific Ocean from Tamarack State Beach to Oceanside Harbor where he will receive his Final Honors dockside.  Immediately following the family will board the boat Sea Star to commit this hero's ashes to the sea.
