The family of CAPT Claude Alexander Rowe Jr., 97, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor this hero for his service to his country.  It will be our privilege to do so.

Claude Rowe Jr. had his mind set to be a pilot at a very early age.  After graduating high school in Detroit, he went to Canada and earned his wings with the Royal Canadian Air Force.  When a friend told him about the Tuskegee Program for African-American military pilots (fighter and bomber), he returned to the US, joined the U.S. Army and realized his dream by flying with the U.S. Army Air Corps.

Claude met his wife Winfried in England in 1949 while he was stationed there; together they had 8 children & 18 grandchildren.

With the creation of the US Air Force in 1947, Claude made the transition to the newly created branch.   After 20 years service to his country including service in two wars (WWII & Korea), Claude retired at the rank of Captain.

The family has requested an accompaniment from the chapel service in Chula Vista to a committal service at Ft Rosecrans National Cemetery, a distance of approximately 20 miles.  There will be motor escorts.

Note: This notice is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran.  For those interested, and all are welcome, please see the time table if you would like to participate. For those who would rather go directly to the cemetery, we will meet you there.
