The family of David Donald Hawkins, US Navy and Vietnam War veteran, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor him for his service to our country. It would be our honor to do so.

David Hawkins, 78, entered the Navy in 1959 as an Electronics Technician and served for 18 years until his honorable discharge on June 27, 1975.  While serving in Vietnam, David was deployed on river patrol boats. During one patrol his leg was badly injured during a battle for which he received the Purple Heart. His awards included the Navy Good Conduct Medal (3 awards), National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal.

At the time of his honorable discharge David had attained the rank of Electronics Technician Senior Chief Petty Officer (E-8).

He is survived by his wife, Susan.
