The PGR had the honor of “Pony Expressing” the urn of retired USN  PO 1 Ken Johnson from Redding to San Diego on May 30th and July 1st.  This was done on a Two Part Mission.

Part 3 will be Ken’s committal to the sea on 15 JUL 2014 by a US Navy ship off San Diego.   He will receive Military Honors at Ft. Rosecrans National Cemetery prior to his committal at sea.  The Family of Ken Johnson has invited the PGR to accompany him on his final journey.

Ken proudly served from 1968 to 1989 and retired as a PO 1 Aviation Tech. He was a Vietnam Vet and served on the USS Hancock which was decommissioned in 1976.

Ken also rode with the PGR as a dedicated member and patriot who honored other Heroes.

He greatly enjoyed being a professional Santa for 40 years and was voted number one Santa in San Diego.
His license plate was rudyrd.

After moving to Northern California he served on the Board of Northern California Veterans Cemetery and worked hard on raising awareness and funds for the proposed Vietnam Memorial to be placed there.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero to his military honors at Ft Rosecrans National Cemetery. Please see the time table if you would like to participate. For those who would rather go directly to the cemetery, we will meet you there.
