The family and friends of James R. McDowell have requested the services of the Patriot Guard Riders in accompanying our hero to his final resting spot on Monday, 21 July 14, at 1030 hrs. It will be our pleasure and honor to do so.

This will be an accompaniment to and flag line at RNC mission only from Victor Valley Mortuary, 15609 11th St., Victorville.

James R. McDowell, 79, served in the US Army from 28 October 1952 till 20 June 1961. He attained the rank of E-4 while serving during the Korean Conflict and was awarded the  Korean War Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, Expert Marksman Medal and Good Conduct Medal.

In his civilian life before and after the Korean War he was a student at the University of Michigan where he was a quarterback for the Wolverines. He enjoyed football and music especially Elvis Presley. Our hero was an employee of Ralph M. Parsons Engineering Co. in Pasadena, CA. prior to retirement.

He is survived by his wife Setsuko “Sue” McDowell and one brother John Paul McDowell and special family friend Janice Churchill. He is also survived by many church friends. He was confined to a wheelchair till his death of COPD. He now enjoys heaven with a perfect body.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and his family from the funeral services to his final resting place.  Please see the time table if you would like to participate. For those who would rather go directly to the cemetery, we will meet you there.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. Everyone is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain).  Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car).  Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can.  Please ride/drive safely.
