WO1 Chris Klimas, grandson and family of Chief Adrian DaSilva Jr. are requesting an accompaniment from the mortuary to Miramar National Cemetery where a Flag Line and Full Military Honors will be rendered.   It will be our honor to do so.

Chief DaSilva entered the Naval Service on Active Duty 1951-1956 and 1964-1980 and retired from Active Duty in 1980. Chief DaSilva served in the Naval Reserve 1980-1989, retiring from the Naval Reserve in 1989.

Chief DaSilva served in Korea on USS Firedrake and was also a Vietnam veteran. Chief DaSilva's awards include: Korean Service Medal with 3 service stars; Vietnam Service Medal; Vietnamese Presidential Unit Citation; Combat Action Ribbon; Presidential Unit Citation; Good Conduct Medal; National Defense Service Medal and United Nations Service Medal.

One of Chief DaSilva's major accomplishments was establishing an EMT Program at Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton.  He also served with the San Diego Sheriff Reserve and Search and Rescue Units. Chief DaSilva was also a licensed Vocational Nurse and provided services in Massage Therapy.

Chief DaSilva is survived by his Wife, Ellen DaSilva; Daughter, Elaine A. Hoefs; Son, Adrian DaSilva; Daughter, Susan DaSilva; Son, Kevin DaSilva; Son, Glenn DaSilva; Son, Jimmy DaSilva. Chief DaSilva also has 15 Grandkids and 11 Great-grandchildren.
 
NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and his family from the mortuary to his final resting place. Please see the time table if you would like to participate. For those who would rather go directly to the cemetery, we will meet you there.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. Everyone is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain).  Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car).  Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can.  Please ride/drive safely.
