The family of Roger William Weir has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor this hero for his service to his country.  It will be our privilege to do so.

Roger Weir, 95, served in the US Army from August 1943 to January 1946.  For his service he was awarded the WWII Victory Medal, the American Theater Ribbon, the Asiatic Theater Ribbon w/ 4 Bronze Stars, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon, 3 Overseas Service Bars and the Good Conduct Medal.  He participated in battles and campaigns in East Indies, New, Guinea and Southern Philippines Luzon.

When the war ended Roger stayed in the Philippines where he started a business salvaging sunken boats.  He also started a bus company.  He married Corine Larrazabal in 1949 and they continued living in the Philippines until they moved to Honolulu, Hawaii, in 1950.  In Honolulu he worked for American Factors as an Architect and designed and built commercial buildings all over the islands and in Hong Kong.  He raced sail boats and was a member of the Kaneohe Yacht Club. He moved the family to El Cajon, California in 1958.

Roger is survived by Spouse of 68 years; Corine S. L. Weir, children Carol Ann Weir Dominion, Roger W. Weir, Jr., John R. Weir, Carin A. Weir Graves, Edita M. Weir Petrov; 13 grandchildren, 22 (and most likely 23 great-grandchildren by the time of Roger’s memorial service!).

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran.  For those interested, and all are welcome, we will be accompanying this hero and family to the church where he will receive military honors.
