The family of Stanley E. Shipcott, 82, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to and attend the funeral service for their Hero, it will be our honor to do so.

Stanley E. Shipcott served in the U.S. Army from August 28, 1958 to August 17, 1960.  Stanley was a PFC and served during the Berlin Crisis, soon to turn into the Berlin Wall Crisis in 1961, in Germany.  During his two year service Stanley burned his legs pretty bad in a mock war activity, but he didn’t give up, after a couple of weeks in the hospital he went back to his post.

Stanley was a very kind and loving man, a devoted husband and a wonderful role model to his children.  Stanley and Barbara were married for 48 years before she passed away in October 2010.  He loved music and was a great entertainer at all of our parties.  And later in life, after moving into Hillcrest Assisted Living, he continued to entertain the nursing care residence.  He played guitar, ukulele, keyboard, piano and sang karaoke, and played the harmonica.  He also was the hardest working man that the family knew.  He often had three jobs at once.  He worked for Oroweat Baking Company for 29 years, also did construction, was a handyman for all family and friends, a real-estate agent, and a Property Manager.  Stanley had Parkinson’s since 2006 but never let that stop him, when his legs gave out, he got around in his electric wheelchair smiling and saying hello to all he met.  He always had a kind word to everyone he saw.  Sadly last October he had 2 really bad strokes that left him paralyzed on his left side.  But true to his tough character, he continued to sing and play his harmonica in his show every week until his passing.

Stanley was preceded in death by his wife Barbara of 48 years.  His is survived by his daughters Sharon Ball and Lisa Daoust, and his son David.  He also leaves behind three grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
