The family of Lt Col James Roy Vick has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor this Vietnam hero for his service to this country.  It will be our privilege to do so.

Lt Col James Vick, 75, was born on 10 July, 1943 and passed away 14 August, 2018.

Lt Col Vick proudly served this country in the United States Air Force from February, 1967 until his retirement in February, 1987.   Jim was a highly decorated Air Force pilot and was the recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross, the highest honor awarded military pilots, for combat flights during his tour in Vietnam. He also earned the Air Medal with six oak leaf clusters for combat, the Meritorious Service Medal with one oak leaf cluster and numerous other medals.

Lt Col Vick was born in Alhambra, California to Roy and Rose Vick and attended high school in Pasadena, graduating from Fallbrook High. He graduated college from University Southern California in 1966 and was a member of Delta Chi fraternity.

After his service, Lt Col Vick flew DC-10’s and B737’s for Continental Airlines until 2003. He was based in Honolulu, Hawaii and flew to numerous Pacific Rim destinations. Jim loved photography and would spend countless hours photographing wildlife in the hills near his childhood home. When he wasn't taking pictures, you could find him working on old cars or hanging out at the beach.

Lt Col Vick leaves behind his wife, Bonnie Vick, a sister; Nancy Risen, two sons; Cameron and Jason Vick and three grandchildren.
