Part 1 of 2 Parts

The family and the US Navy have invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present when their Hero, AWS3 Daniel David Perez, 22, arrives back to California and for his following funeral services.  We will be honored to do be there.

AWS3 Daniel Perez was serving with the US Navy in Guam when while snorkleing with friends, he tragically drowned.  Daniel was a naval aircrewman with Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 25.

Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 25 commanding officer Cmdr. Chrisopher Carreon said Daniel Perez was a kind, hard-working sailor, who wore a constant smile.

"In the 4 months he was at HSC-25, he already made strong bonds with many in our squadron. Two weeks ago, he participated in a life-saving (medical evacutation), expertly performing his duties under pressure. The Island Knight family will deeply miss our fellow sailor, and we offer our thoughts and prayers to his other friends and family affected by this tragedy."

Daniel, also known as "Chino", is described as being a very happy and lovable person who loved the outdoors and extreme sports.  He brought smiles to everyone who was around him.  He also loved Guam and was really enjoying the ocean and hiking the beautiful trails.

He is survived by his loving family and friends and fellow shipmates of the Navy.  He will be missed dearly by all.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this American Hero. For those interested, and all are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and his family from the airport to the mortuary. Please see the time table if you would like to participate. For those who would rather go directly to the mortuary, we will meet you there.
