The family of Sgt Forrest Emerson Wilkins, age 76, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to attend his final honors, we would be honored to do so.

Sgt Wilkins began his service 18 September, 1964 with the United States Marine Corps.  After successfully completing boot camp, he was one of six Marines chosen to be assigned to the State Department in Washington D.C. as part of a personal security detail.  He stayed in this role for two years and then, he was deployed to Da Nang Vietnam as an ammunition technician.  After completing his enlistment, he was honorably discharged on 11 September, 1968 at the rank of Sgt and entered the Marine Corps Reserve.

In 1969, Forrest joined the Los Angeles Police Department where he served for 30.5 years.  After working basic patrol, he applied for, and was accepted to work the Motor Detail which was his duty assignment for the next 19 years.  After he retired in 2000, he continued to ride his Harley Police Electra Glide for another 21 years.

Sgt Wilkins was married for over 50 years to the love of his life, Leanna.  In addition to Leanna, he is survived by 11 children 14 grandchildren, one sister, two brothers and numerous other family members.
