Camp Pendleton has erected a Memorial for the K9 Handlers and their dogs that were KIA in WWII, Korea, Vietnam, OIF and OEF.  The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited to the ceremony unveiling and dedicating this monument in the Memorial Gardens to the memory of these brave warriors.  We are honored that the PGR has been included in this day of recognition.

PGR will accompany the founder of this project, Jon Hemp, one of our own PGR members and Marine K9 Handler in Vietnam, from the main gate to the ceremony where we will stand a flag line honoring these Fallen Heroes.  The names of the Fallen military dog handlers from all 5 wars will be read and the monument will be dedicated in their memory.

The procession will then move to the location of the street on base that has been named for Cpl Max Donahue, K-9 handler, the most recent casualty who was KIA in Afghanistan, where there will be a flag raising and presentation. The dog kennels are at this location where the remainder of the ceremonies will conclude and the PGR has been invited to the BBQ in celebration of these events.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring these American Heroes.
