Building Homes For Heroes (BHFH), a non-profit organization has invited the Patriot Guard to attend the Key Turning Ceremony for USMC Corporal Joshua Lopez, Wounded Warrior, in San Marcos, CA and we are honored to do so.

This is the first time BHFH has given away a home here in So California.

On April 2, 2012, USMC Cpl Joshua Lopez of the 2nd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment was
severely injured in Afghanistan when he stepped on an IED. With constant pain and limited function in his right leg, Cpl Lopez opted to undergo a procedure to amputate the right leg rather than try to salvage the limb. He also suffered severe injuries to his left leg and right hand, and is being evaluated for a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). He is was just recently released from the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.

Joshua and his wife Jennifer, along with their son Joshua, Jr., have selected their new home and we will accompany them to it and stand a Flag Line as they enter their home.  There will be a short ceremony prior to the ribbon cutting.

Cpl Lopez will ride a Fire Engine to the home.  We anticipate quite a crowd as the locals have stepped up in a big way and there will be a procession (which we will lead in) with Police, Fire, School, and other personnel driving and marching to the home.  We will stand a Flag Line at the home site as our Hero arrives.

The Patriot Guard will meet, brief, then ride to the initial staging area for the procession. Once there we will stage at the front of the procession.   If you wish to participate and meet our Hero, he is expected to meet us at our staging site and we can shake hands and learn how he is doing after so many years of rehabilitation.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this American Hero.
