The family of Walter Ernest Hitt Jr, 75, US Marine, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to attend the military honors of their loved one as he makes his final journey. It will be our honor to do so.
Walter Ernest Hitt Jr, a proud Veteran of the United States Marine Corps, passed away leaving behind a legacy of dedicated service to his country.
Born on August 13, 1950, in Los Angeles, California, Walter answered the call to duty by enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps on November 25, 1968. He served as a Sergeant (E-5) and a Helicopter Mechanic (H-46/H-56 systems), taking on critical responsibilities maintaining aircraft. During his active military service, Sergeant Hitt completed seven months of foreign and sea duty, contributing directly to overseas operations.
For his honorable service during the Vietnam War, Sergeant Hitt was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Rifle Sharpshooter Badge, Pistol Sharpshooter Badge, Good Conduct Medal, Combat Air Crew Insignia, the Vietnamese Service Medal with one star, and the Vietnamese Campaign Medal with device. Following his honorable release from active duty at MCAS El Toro in 1972, he continued his service in the Marine Corps Reserve.
Sadly, Walters' war followed him home with eventual complications caused by Agent Orange.
After his service Walter worked as an accountant, and when he wasn't working he enjoyed spending time with family and running.
Walter is survived by his wife, Cheryl, and children, Julie and Kathleen. Walter leaves behind four grandchildren and is now reunited with his brother, Charlie.

If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the Ride Captain (RC). Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.
Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our heroes. No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Observe the 15 MPH speed limit. Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground. Show respect to all who are there, not just who we are honoring.
