This is Part 2 of a 2 part mission.

The family of Major Richard Sterling Norton, USMC, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor their hero for his service to his nation.  It will be our privilege to do so.

Maj. Norton joined the Marine Corps in 2005. He was deployed to Afghanistan and was a veteran of the Global War on Terror.  He also had several deployments to Japan.

Maj. Norton was assigned to the “Red Devils”, Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 232, F-18C squadron, Marine Aircraft Group 11 stationed at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, San Diego.   He was killed when his twin-engine Hornet crashed during a close air support mission in Twenty-Nine Palms, CA.

There will be tags for this mission.

NOTE: The weather is predicted to be hot please stay hydrated and don't forget to eat, it can made a difference with your ability to withstand the heat.


NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero to his final resting place. Please see the time table if you would like to participate.   If you prefer to meet us at the cemetery, we will meet you there.

1115 – KSU to Meet With Procession
1200 – (Est) Join Procession to Miramar National Cemetery, 5795 Nobel Dr, San Diego, CA 92122 https://goo.gl/maps/WBq8zeZ3GEy 
1215 – (Est) Arrive at Miramar National Cemetery
1300 – Flag Line and Funeral Service with Full Military Honors

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. Everyone is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain).  Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car).  Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can.  Please ride/drive safely.
