The family of AZ1 Roy Albert Benson has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor this hero for his service to his country.  It will be our privilege to do so.

Roy served in the US Navy a total of 22 years.  At the time of his discharge he had attained the rank of AZ1 (Aviation Maintenance Administrationman Petty Officer 1st Class).

Roy proudly served in WWII, Korea and Vietnam.  He was awarded 4 Navy Good Conduct Medals, American Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Korean Service Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal.  He served aboard the USS Shadwell, USS Bon Homme Richard, USS Constellation, and at NAS North Island, CA, NAS Norfolk, VA, and NAS Kingsville, TX.

Roy is survived by his daughter, a sister and 2 grandchildren.

The family has requested a flag line only at the cemetery where Roy will join his wife who passed in 2009.  They will now both rest in eternal loving peace.
