The family of Army Veteran Joe Mickey Velasco has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to honor their hero for his service and sacrifice to his country. It will be our privilege to do so.

Joe Velasco proudly served in the US Army from 1945 to 1951. He was stationed in Italy in WWII and performed duties related to transportation in Korea.

Following military service, Mr. Velasco found a career in the trucking industry and retired after 40 years. Gardening, cars, Rat Pack music and trips to Las Vegas with his sweetheart Terrie were his passion.

Joe Velasco is survived by nephew Phillip Velasco, nieces Dolores Carrillo and Teri Carrillo and many other Velasco and Carrillo nieces and nephews.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and his family from the church to his final resting place. Please see the time table if you would like to participate. For those who would rather go directly to the cemetery, we will meet you there.

The weather is predicted to be hot so please stay hydrated and don't forget to eat; it can make a difference with your ability to withstand the heat.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. Everyone is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission, go to the staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain).  Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car). Please ride/drive safely.
