The family of Mary Alice Pollard has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to honor their hero for her service and sacrifice to her country. It will be our privilege to do so.

Mary served for 20 years, 1974 to 1995.  Her various duty stations include Colorado, Ft. Greely, AK; Defense Information School, Ft. Benjamin Harrison, IN; West Point Military Academy; and the Armed Forces Radio Broadcast Center, Hollywood.  She was awarded many citations including the Army Commendation Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Air Force Excellence Medal and numerous others.  Mary also spent time in Japan and Korea, finishing her long career as the Non-Commissioned Officer-in-Charge of the Public Affairs Office at the National Training Center at Ft. Irwin, CA. Mary achieved the rank of SGT First Class at the time of her discharge. Following her active military service Mary continued another 20 plus years with the Armed Forces Radio and Television Service.

Mary had a very storied and active life, with such varied activities as a secretary, chip girl at a card club, foxier/server at Las Vegas casinos, apartment manager, motel maid, professional photographer at race tracks, restaurant employee and owner.  With all of that she still found time for hobbies including genealogy, reading, writing, golf, Tai Chi, yoga and cooking. Her husband of 49 years preceded her in death in 2012. She is survived by nephews Dwayne Servillo, (a fellow PGR member) and Bob Richmond, and nieces Sharon Luwisch and Pamela Richmond.
