The family of Charles “Chuck” Scism has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to honor their hero for his service and sacrifice to his country. It will be our privilege to do so.

Chuck enlisted in the California National Guard in 1951 and was soon activated into the Army for service in Korea with the First Cavalry Division.  He was awarded the Purple Heart for two combat injuries - shrapnel from a mortar attack and later from a land mine explosion.  A lung infection while in Korea plagued him for his entire life.

Chuck was born in the Republic of Panama, raised by his grandfather who was a pilot on the Panama Canal. They came to the States in 1944. He spent much of his life as a nurseryman and as home-delivery milkman in the Antelope Valley. He played minor league baseball for the Hollywood Stars of the old Pacific Coast League for a time. He was once a stuntman at Corriganville Ranch in Chatsworth and stood in for actors in several of the movies that were shot there.

Chuck is predeceased by his wife Beverly and he will be interred with her at RNC.  He is survived by their four sons Robert, Jeffery, Charles and James, and five grandchildren.
