The family of Roy W. Chandler, 91,  has requested the Patriot Guard Riders in honoring their beloved father, grand and great grandfather on Friday, 16 November 2018. We will be honored to do so. He will make his final journey on earth starting from Meads Mortuary in Barstow to Bakersfield National Cemetery.

Our hero enlisted in the US Army on 09 Nov 1945 in Cp Walters, TX and was honorably discharged on 13 Nov 1946 in Ft Bragg, NC. He attained a final rank of Private First Class and was assigned to Co C 5th Infantry Reg. For 8 months he was a rifleman of a 30 caliber gun and foremost he was assigned as a mail clerk.

He was a product of Mayville, Oklahoma and was raised on the family farm in Lindsay, OK. Later the family moved to the Eureka, CA area. When he married his wife he moved the family to McFarland, CA and engaged in several small businesses including grocery, car washes and laundromats.

He was known to be a traveler and spent time in Las Vegas and living in his motorhome elsewhere. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing. His final days were spent at the Veterans home in Barstow which he dearly enjoyed.

Survivors include his daughter Pamela in Bakersfield, sons Gary and Don, 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. One son, Steven, was previously deceased.

NOTE: Weather will be cool in the morning, the ride to BNC takes about 2 hours and may include a rendezvous with other High Desert Riders enroute, please dress accordingly.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and his family from the mortuary to his final resting place. Please see the time table if you would like to participate. For those who would rather go directly to the cemetery, we will meet you there.
