The family of Sgt Gary G. Wilson has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor this hero for his service to his country.  It will be our privilege to do so.

Gary Wilson, 33, of Fairfield, Connecticut, enlisted in the US Marine Corps in 2010.  In 2016 he was assigned to the 3rd Recruit Training Battalion, Recruit Training Regiment at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego.  Prior to being assigned to the recruit depot, Sgt Wilson served in the 1st Maintenance Battalion, Camp Pendleton and in the Marine Wing Support Squadron 172 and Group 17, Okinawa, Japan.

This hero made headlines just 2 months ago when, on September 18, he was riding his motorcycle home from work and came upon a crash on the freeway.  Seeing one of the cars on fire and ignoring the great risk to himself, Sgt Wilson broke a window and pulled an injured crash victim out of her vehicle.  After the first rescue, he went to a second car and pried open the female driver's door and pulled her to safety.   Sadly, just 60 days after this heroic incident he lost his life in a motorcycle crash on the same freeway.

Sgt Wilson’s personal awards include 2 Good Conduct Medals, 3 Sea Service Deployment Ribbons, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.

SoCal PGR has been asked to accompany Sgt Wilson from Legacy Funeral Care in La Mesa to the airport for his final journey to his home state of Connecticut.   The PGR in Connecticut has been notified and are planning a mission there.
