The family of Ernesto E. Serrano has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to attend his funeral service and military honors, we are privileged to do so.

Ernesto Echavarria Serrano, age 70, passed away peacefully on Wednesday June 28 2019 surrounded by family and friends.

Ernesto, or Ernie as he was known to family and friends, was a US Army Veteran who served 2 tours in Vietnam. He served from June 68 to June 74 as a Medical Corpsman and was honorably discharged at the rank of E-5. Medals and awards received Three Silver Stars for Gallantry, five Purple Hearts, and the Bronze Star, National Defense Service, Army Commendation medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal. His extraordinary heroism will never be forgotten.

Upon returning home he worked doing private home nursing, worked for 8 years in agriculture, later working as a welder and pipe-fitter with the Union local 403. He married Josephine, the love of his life, in 1972 and enjoyed 47 years of marriage. Ernie was well known for raising and breeding chickens. He enjoyed music, driving, fishing, playing cards, and loved good food. Ernie was best known for his immense love for his family and friends.

Ernie is survived by his wife, Josephine Solis Serrano, daughter, Magdalena Sunshine Serrano Mckay and Husband Don, Sons Gabriel and wife Melissa,. Jesus A. Jesus and wife Shaila, Benny Ray and wife Katya Grandchildren 16 and two Great Grandchildren. Also Ernie had 11 Brothers and Sisters.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and his family from the church services to the mortuary. Please see the time table if you would like to participate

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. Everyone is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain).  Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car).  Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can.  Please ride/drive safely.
