The family of Travis Lawrence Carter, age 39, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present at the cemetery for their Hero's military honors, it will be our honor to do so.

Travis Carter enlisted in the US Navy on June 23, 2008 and honorably served as a Gunner until his discharge on February 21, 2011. He served in the Global War on Terror in Somalia. He had attained the rank of FC3 (E-4).  FC3 Carter was awarded the following medals; GWOT Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, GWOT Expeditionary Medal, Navy Pistol Marksmanship Ribbon w/S device, Navy Rifle Marksmanship Medal w/S device, Sea Service Deployment, Service Warfare Specialist.

After serving Travis went to work for a cousin who owns an Internet business in Virginia.  He was always very involved in football, his passion. He played as a kid starting with Youth Football, all the way through High School.  After the military he also worked as a Football Coach.  He was also a lifelong fan of the Raiders.

Travis is survived by his mother Sharon, dad Kim, second mother Tanya, 5 brothers Roy, David, Joseph, Garrett and Dylan, and 2 sisters Michelle and Krista, many extended family members and friends. He will not be forgotten.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran.

SPECIAL NOTE:  Part 1 of this mission was completed on May 19 when RNC was not allowing the family to have a service and not allowing the Hero to receive Military Honors, due to COVID-19 restrictions.  Due to the unusual circumstances we advised these families that when the cemetery rescheduled the service/honors we would return to participate, we are honored to do so.
